In the college's Ryan Family Student Center, students have access to free one-on-one tutoring from experienced professionals who can help you master the concepts of writing, math, and physics. Tutoring helps you succeed in your foundation and higher-level classes.
Penn State also offers tutoring services through Penn State Learning, Tech Tutors, and others.

Assistant Teaching Professor/Giles Writer-in-Residence
Recognizing the need for effective writing in the sciences and engineering, the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences provides tutoring and instruction to resident undergraduate students.
You are encouraged to visit the Writing Center for help with anything from your classroom assignments to your professional documents (e.g., résumés, graduate school personal statements). We're also happy to brainstorm ideas for your projects and help you get started. No matter where you are in your written and oral communications, we'll coach you toward success!
Understanding your role and responsibilities as a writer will help you get the most from a tutoring session. The emphasis in the EMS writing center is to help you become a better oral and written communicator, not simply to fix the errors or proofread for you. Come prepared and ask questions. Take an active role in discovering how to improve your writing. The process of learning to write more effectively is as important as the product.
