Our writing tutoring can help you improve your writing from your paper assignments to your résumé and personal essays by helping you understand and employ effective writing principles. Be prepared to take an active role in discovering ways to improve your writing; the writing tutor won't rewrite your paper but, instead, will challenge you to think critically about what it means to write effectively in the science and engineering disciplines.

To schedule an appointment email the writing tutor, Kimberly Del Bright, Giles Writer-in-Residence, to guarantee a time spot. If you need to cancel, be sure to notify the writing tutor so that other students can schedule during that time.

Math and Physics Tutor

Math and physics courses form part of the foundation for many majors in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences. Understanding the concepts taught in these courses can help you succeed in upper-level classes that build on the fundamentals taught in these courses.

Math Tutoring

Mathematics tutors are available during the following times: 

Monday-Thursday evenings: 5:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the Ryan Family Student Center (14 Deike)
All EMS math tutors can support Math 022, 026, 041, 140 and 141
Some EMS math tutors will support Math 230, 231, and 251

A detailed schedule of the EMS math tutor shifts will be posted in the Ryan Family Student Center at the beginning of each semester.

Physics Tutoring

Supplemental help in physics is available during the following times:

Wednesdays: 7:00 - 8:00 p.m.  AND  Fridays: 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Room 14 in the Ryan Family Student Center (14 Deike)
Supported courses include PHYS 211, 212, 213, 250 and 251

*Please arrive by 7:00 p.m. if you are seeking physics help!

Penn State Learning

Penn State Learning is a multi-disciplinary academic assistance program that is staffed by peer tutors who are themselves undergraduates, by scholars in residence who are content experts in their respective fields, and by professional and administrative staff members.
