Named for one of Penn State’s most cherished landmarks, the Obelisk Society represents the ultimate in giving to College of Earth and Mineral Sciences. The Obelisk, standing on the Mall near Old Main since 1896, has been an enduring symbol of the history and spirit of the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences and today, it is the symbol of a society that honors the topmost donors of the college.
About the Obelisk Society
The Obelisk Society has been an important component of the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences philanthropic culture since its inception in 1981. The Obelisk Society recognizes those individuals whose cumulative lifetime giving to the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences has reached or exceeded $50,000 in irrevocable commitments. Currently standing at more than 324 active members, the society has made a lasting impact on the college, its diversified programs, and student body through the support of its members. You too, can become a member of this society and show your College of Earth and Mineral Sciences pride. Society members reflect their commitment to the continuing achievement of the college through their involvement and generosity. Society membership is open to all University alumni and friends.
