More About Me
My job in a nutshell: As the founder of AccuWeather, I lead this growing, innovative, and entrepreneurial company. We have become the largest source of weather forecasts and warnings in the world from our headquarters in State College, Pennsylvania, and serve over 240 of Fortune 500 companies worldwide, plus 1,900 radio, television, and newspapers. AccuWeather now reaches more than 1.5 billion people globally through mobile, apps, AccuWeather Network, and Accuweather.com.
After graduating, my first job was an instructor in the Penn State Department of Meteorology.
My favorite Penn State class was a weather forecasting lab course, which I took as a junior. I later taught the class for twenty-one years.
The professor who made a lasting impression on me was Dr. Charles Hosler. He was my professor, thesis adviser, and supervisor. He was a great orator and scientist, and was a mentor and inspiration to me.
My favorite Penn State tradition is football. Since I arrived on campus as a sophomore in 1958, I have only missed six home football games.
The holiday I always look forward to is Valentine’s Day — I am a romantic.
On the weekends, you can find me spending time with my family, watching sports, and catching up on my work.
My favorite words of wisdom: “Once you say you're going to settle for second, that's what happens to you in life.” (John F. Kennedy)
