What would be your dream job and how did EMS put you closer to this goal?
My dream job would be to work at a materials company in an R&D setting, either carrying out or supporting research projects. EMS was able to both provide me with invaluable lab experience and put me in contact with industry leaders looking for students with my qualifications.
What made you choose your major?
I have always enjoyed chemistry and felt that materials science was the perfect research-oriented field that took chemistry and applied it to solve real world issues.
Why did you decide to attend Penn State?
Penn State’s MatSE program was very impressive and competitive on the national stage. I knew I wanted to conduct undergraduate research and Penn State seemed to have the programs and tools in place to make it very easy to get started.
What is one piece of advice you would give to prospective students?
Do not let any opportunities pass you by. If you have the chance to get an early start at something (such as research or an internship), take it. Building your experience is incredibly important.
What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned in college so far?
Being able to manage your time wisely is key.
