Gabriel Lade, an associate professor and C. William Swank Chair in Rural-Urban Policy at Ohio State University, will give the talk, “Does Renewable Diesel Clean the Air? Evidence from California Highways,” at noon on Wednesday, April 15, in 157 Hosler Building on the Penn State University Park campus.

Hilal Ezgi Toraman, assistant professor of energy and mineral engineering and of chemical engineering at Penn State, is one of five faculty recognized as a rising star in chemical engineering by the journal ACS Engineering Au for her work developing fundamental research on the utilization of pyrolysis.

Nelson Dzade, assistant professor of energy and mineral engineering and chair of the undergraduate energy engineering program at Penn State, recently co-chaired the critical minerals and materials session at the annual National Academies U.S.-Africa Frontiers of Science, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) Symposium, held this past February in Dakar, Senegal.

The Distinguished Lecture Series in Materials Science and Engineering at Penn State will be held in April and will include two Richard E. Tressler Award Lectures in Materials and the David Ford McFarland Award Lecture for Achievement in Metallurgy.

Lise Nelson, professor in the School of Geography, Development and Environment at the University of Arizona, will deliver a talk titled “Amenity Migration, Gentrification and Illegality in Rural America” at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, April 17, in 112 Walker Building on the Penn State University Park campus.

Robert Roth, professor of geography at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW) and director of the UW Cartography Lab, will deliver a talk at noon on Friday, April 10, in 401 Steidle Building Penn State University Park.

Susanna B. Berkouwer, an assistant professor of business economics and public policy at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, will give the talk, “Green subsidies with demand distortions,” at noon on Wednesday, April 8, in 157 Hosler Building at Penn State University Park.

Penn State’s College of Earth and Mineral Sciences and Department of Meteorology and Atmospheric Science mourn the loss of John A. Dutton, who died on Feb. 13, at the age of 89.
