In the geography major, you can learn more about how people interact with and impact the environment — and vice versa. Our geography program is suited for students seeking a deeper understanding of humans' role in the world, especially related to economic, social, and political activities. We offer both a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science in geography. Both majors provide training in descriptive and analytical skills such as map reading, cartography, and statistics.
"While pursuing this degree, I am able to fine-tune my critical thinking since there is so much emphasis on challenging the way you view the world in order to think like a geographer! Additionally, I am able to practice a bunch of relevant career skills like programming, spatial analysis, design, writing different types of professional texts, and so much more!"

"Penn State's geography program is chock-full of brilliant professors, which makes sense for its 41st world university ranking. My favorite thing about all of the geography classes I've taken is how each of my professor's worldly experiences ar consistently brought into the classroom, opening my eyes to focus topics in the discipline I'd never even entertained before."
