Obelisk Award

Objective

This award honors a staff member who consistently demonstrates unwavering dedication to the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences, serving as a trusted pillar of support for colleagues, students and the broader community. Through innovative problem-solving, resilience in the face of challenges, and a commitment to advancing the college’s mission, this person inspires others through both their character and their contributions. Like the Obelisk itself, this staff member stands as a lasting symbol of excellence, elevating those around them and leaving a meaningful and enduring mark on the college.

Eligibility

Full-time or part-time staff member with a minimum of 12 months of service in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences.

All staff are eligible for each award, based on award eligibility criteria

Staff members may be nominated by different nominators for each award

Staff members may receive no more than one award per year

Staff members cannot win the same award more than once within a five (5) year period

Nomination process

Nominations may be initiated by any faculty, staff or student in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences. Each nomination must consist of:

Two supporting letters of recommendation (upload using form field below)

Additional pieces of supporting material may be included (no more than three)

All nominations must be award specific, no generalizations.
