2017 GEMS board

GEMS Board of Directors

The GEMS Board of Directors is comprised of 16 members (15 person plus immediate past president). In 1994, the founding Board was appointed by the dean and since that initial appointment, board members have been nominated and/or elected by the general GEMS membership and the active Board of Directors. Board members have a three-year minimum term of office, are committed to attending two board meetings each year at University Park, actively serve on at least one committee, and provide assistance in developing the society and its programming. The officers are selected by the current Board of Directors for a two-year term.

GEMS Board Elections

The GEMS Board is currently holding elections for representatives for the Department of Meteorology and Atmospheric Science (METEO) and the John and Willie Leone Family Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering (EME). We have eight (8) candidates for two (2) open positions to represent these two departments. Please visit the GEMS Candidate Ballot Statements webpage to learn more about the candidates.

If you are a current GEMS member (member of the Penn State Alumni Association) we welcome your vote. Elections will open on May 22 and close on June 11. Please help select your representative for the next 3 years.
