What made you choose your major?
I’ve always loved meteorology ever since I was a young kid, watching the Weather Channel and the many “Storm Chasers” TV episodes they would air. I’d draw up my own forecasts and make mini iMovie videos whenever it would snow outside, as I would “report” on the weather. When I was finishing up high school, I knew that meteorology was still the perfect fit for me.
What student organizations and activities are you involved in?
I am involved in numerous organizations and activities. I am the Head of Business for Campus Weather Service, the PR Officer for PSUBAMS, and Head of Outreach for Weather, Outreach, and Education. Outside of leadership roles, I also serve as an EMS Ambassador, am part of Storm Chase Team and Weather Risk Management Club, as well as an EMS StuCo chairperson!
What’s the best part about being an EMS student?
I really believe that small-college feel makes it so welcoming to all EMS students! Coming from only smaller schools, I was worried about how large Penn State was. However, having a family-like atmosphere in the college itself really quells any fears I had, and makes me feel so much more appreciated as a student.
What is one piece of advice you would give to prospective students?
Go to TEEMS! I really valued the people that I met there and am still best friends with lots of them today. It’s always a relieving feeling going into school that you have people you are already familiar with once classes start. Plus, it’s a great opportunity to connect with some of your future professors and advisers!
What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned in college so far?
Stay ahead on your work! College is such a fun experience, but it is even more enjoyable when you don’t have to stress about last-minute assignments or study sessions. Stay ahead of the game, and you will do great in college!
