What would be your dream job and how did EMS put you closer to this goal?
My dream job is in regional development and land planning. EMS has helped me feel confident and prepared every step of the way.
What made you choose your major?
Since I was in middle school, I’ve had an affinity for environmental science and sustainability. Then, when I entered high school, my mom encouraged me to take a few engineering courses. I could not have imagined a more fitting major for myself than Environmental Systems Engineering.
What is the best class you’ve taken at Penn State and why?
More importantly than the best class I’ve taken, I want to highlight some of the best professors I have had. I had an incredible time learning from Dr. Justin VanderBerg, Dr. Tanya Furman, Dr. Nelson Dzade, and Dr. Byron Parizek. I highly recommend their courses.
What is one piece of advice you would give to prospective students?
You are going to end up exactly where you are meant to be as long as you are patient, and you are not afraid to try.
What opportunities has Penn State provided for you so far?
I will be forever grateful for my opportunity to study and conduct research abroad. During my sophomore year, I spent a semester at Costa Rica’s Center for Sustainable Development Studies. Not only did I learn about resource management and gain a broader global perspective, but I learned a lot about myself and my aspirations.
