Study Ch. 4 in Benítez (op.cit.) and explain, where necessary, ALL the examples. (It is sufficient to copy the relevant pages from the textbook and annotate them extensively.)
Solve Problems 4.1-4.6, 4.8, 4.10, 4.11, 4.14-4.20 in Benítez (op.cit.)
Pay special attention to:
(a) the use of the empirical Freundlich isotherm for adsorption equilibrium;
(b) the quantitative analysis of 'breakthrough', which combines adsorption equilibrium (thermodynamics) with adsorption kinetics (Examples 4.3 and 4.4 in Benítez, op.cit.)
(c) the determination of adsorption cycle time;
(d) ways to update economic information (review Chem. Eng., Chem. Eng. Prog., etc.)
