Earth
Systems Minor (EASYS)
Description
and course requirements (pdf)
The
recognition that environmental problems are global
in extent and impact many different components
of the Earth System simultaneously requires that
we adopt a large scale and interdisciplinary approach
to questions of global change and the interactions
of human and physical environments. The Earth
Systems Minor follows such an approach and
offers undergraduates the opportunity to study
the Earth as an integrated system.
The
Earth Systems Minor is directed by the faculty
in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences'
Environment Institute. Students enrolled in the
minor will be encouraged to make use of the research
opportunities presented by the Institute, by working
with individual faculty members on related projects.
Curriculum
A total of 18 credits is required for the minor.
Please note that up to 6 credits in your major
department can be counted double to meet both
major and minor requirements. (This does not apply
to students in the Earth Sciences major.) Additional
courses may be eligible for substitution.
