What or who is the Graduate Student Council and what is our purpose?
The graduate student council is a group of representatives from the 5 departments of the college of earth and mineral sciences. The Graduate Student Council's purpose is to advocate in the best interests of the EMS graduate student body as a whole and to facilitate the implementation of policies deemed beneficial to the graduate student population. Further, the council will foster collaboration of ideas and policies between the various departments within the College. The Council is dedicated to making improvements, wherever needed, as voiced by the graduate students of the College.
How do I become active in the Graduate Student Council?
Please contact your individual department for the member selection procedure. We have left control of this aspect to each department.
How can I hold an office within the Graduate Student Council?
There are three main offices to be held within the council (chair, co-chair, and secretary). All officers are voted on by the members of the council at the first meeting of each semester. Please see the constitution for full details.
How often does the Graduate Student Council meet?
The meeting frequency shall be determined by the chair and co-chair. Meetings are to be held at least bi-monthly and on a more frequent basis if warranted. All reasonable attempts will be made to facilitate the council members schedules.

The graduate student council is constantly working towards improving the quality of life, educational experience, and graduate lifestyle in general.
