Fred Gadomski and Paul Knight of WPSX-TV's Weather World Named Television Broadcasters of the Year

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (April 9, 2003) - The Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters (PAB) has recognized several PENN STATE PUBLIC BROADCASTING staffers for this year's PAB Awards. Fred Gadomski and Paul Knight, hosts of WPSX-TV's WEATHER WORLD, have been named Television Broadcasters of the Year. The awards will be distributed May 5 at the PAB convention in Hershey, PA.

"WPSX is proud to have the 2003 PAB Television Broadcasters of the Year as part of our on-air team," said General Manager Ted Krichels. "We thank the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters for this recognition of the service Weather World has been providing to central Pennsylvania."

Each year the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters names a radio and a television Broadcaster of the Year to honor those whose talent, leadership and contributions help to improve the broadcast industry while continuously offering a valuable service to their listening and viewing public.

"PAB is the oldest of the state broadcast associations. Ours is a state rich in history for broadcasting and we are very proud of our honorees for 2003." WEATHER WORLD offers a highly professional product and our state's viewers benefit each day from its content and delivery. Mr. Gadomski and Mr. Knight are consummate professionals and we congratulate them and all who produce WEATHER WORLD for this award," stated Richard Wyckoff, president of the PAB.

Airing weeknights at 5:30 p.m., WEATHER WORLD has been a popular fixture on the WPSX-TV for the almost 20 years. WEATHER WORLD also airs on WVIA and WITF.

For many rural Pennsylvanians, WPSX-TV is the only broadcast channel they receive without cable. In addition to broadcasting a 24-hour program schedule to 29 counties throughout Pennsylvania and southern New York, Penn State Public Broadcasting (WPSX-TV and WPSU-FM) provides faculty and staff of Penn State University with assistance in the creation of multimedia devices including DVDs, CD-ROMs, video and audio recordings.
