Core Laboratories Pledges $200,000 to Establish Scholarships in Petroleum
and Natural Gas Engineering
Core Laboratories, Inc. has pledged $200,000 to establish the Core
Lab Scholarships in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering in the College

Richardson Establishes Scholarship Fund for Geography Students. Dr.
Don Richardson, a 1977 graduate from the Penn State Department of Geography
recently established the G.D. Richardson Scholarship in Geography. The purpose
of this scholarship is to provide recognition and financial assistance to
outstanding undergraduate students enrolled in geography in the College

Brooks Establishes Endowment to Support Penn State's Cooperative Wetlands
Center. This year Dr. Robert P. Brooks will reach the 25-year milestone
as a faculty member at Penn State. To celebrate that event, Robert and Rebecca
Brooks of State College, Pennsylvania, recently established the "Robert
P. and Rebecca P. Brooks Endowment for the Cooperative Wetlands Center."

Meyers Establish Trustee Scholarship. In order to help support
talented undergraduate meteorology students who have a great financial need,
James and Joan Meyer of Silver Spring, Maryland have donated more than $50,000
to establish the James H. and Joan E. Meyer Trustee Scholarship in the College
of Earth and Mineral Sciences. The scholarship will provide support to undergraduate
students who are pursuing studies in the area of physical meteorology. [MORE]

Alumnus Pledges $100,000 to EMS. Demonstrating his commitment to
strengthening both the undergraduate and graduate education experience for
students enrolled in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences, EMS alumnus,
Wesley C. Pickard has pledged $100,000 to support college-wide initiatives.

East Resources, Inc. Donates $50,000 to support Deike Building Renovations.
The College of Earth and Mineral Sciences is pleased to announce
that East Resources, Inc. has given funds to name the curator's office in
the new Earth and Mineral Sciences Museum, located on the ground floor of

with his wife Molly, Dr. and Mrs. John A. Dutton and Dr. Charles Hosler

assistance to undergraduate students in need of financial assistance.

Washington D.C. resident and EMS alumnus Paul Robertson has pledged $50,000
to establish an endowment supporting the implementation of new educational
programs in the college.

Johnson and Johnson Focused Giving Grant Accelerates Biomaterials Research
at Penn State
Johnson & Johnson (J&J) recently awarded a $255,000 Focused Giving Grant
to Erwin Vogler, associate professor of materials science and engineering,
to support his project titled, "Scaled Interfacial Activity of Blood Proteins
with Relevance to Coagulation." This three-year grant will assist Vogler
in applying new insights into protein adsorption in the development of blood-compatible
biomaterials.
