Our quality of life depends on our energy choices: fossil fuels, nuclear, or alternative energy resources. We must choose wisely. Our world has, for more than half a century, relied upon two premium fossil fuels - oil and gas - to satisfy a wide range of energy needs. Along the way, we have learned of some of the effects that using this energy has our environment. Our students discover contemporary business strategies and solutions for Earth's energy and environmental future. They learn about the fossil fuels and other minerals that our modern society needs to function, and how to extract and use these resources with the least negative impact on people and the environment.
Students interested in studying the energy industry and energy-related issues in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences can major in Energy Business and Finance, Energy Engineering, Energy and Fuels Engineering, Environmental Systems Engineering, Industrial Health and Safety, Mining Engineering, or Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering.
