The Oracle
Today we made a three hour trek into the mountains to
Delphi, where the ancient ruins of the Oracle exist.
Supposedly in ancient times, smoke would rise up around
a statue from which prophecies would be made. This site
was sacred to many people. Therefore, various Greek
civilizations would construct temples and dedicate gifts
to the Oracle. Included at this site was an ancient
stadium, auditorium, building remnants, and a museum
containing many artifacts from the Greek past. Aside
from the historical importance, this area is also known
for the beautiful mountainous landscape. Our group was
impressedto say the least.
