Katie graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Cum Laude with her B.S. in
Meteorology in August 2007 from The Florida State University. She
joined the Weather World crew shortly thereafter and continues to work
on her broadcast meteorology, forecasting skill, and her Master's
thesis at Penn State, University Park.
Katie began her broadcast experience as one of the student
meteorologists on the Florida State Weather Show, which airs
weeknights in Tallahassee, FL. She then interned at WCTV in
Tallahassee, FL for four months. Katie believes broadcasting is the
best way to inform the public of upcoming, current weather and severe
weather alerts. "I simply desire people to be properly aware of
current weather situations and not in the way of danger," she explains.
Katie was born and raised in wild, wonderful West Virginia, where
she immediately took to outdoor activities, including but not limited
to skiing, caving and rock climbing. She enjoys speaking French,
SCUBA diving in warmer climates, and her favorite pastime, performing
in the circus.
