Academic Integrity

University Policy 49-20 - Academic integrity is the pursuit of scholarly activity free from fraud and deception and is an educational objective of this institution. Academic dishonesty includes, but is not limited to, cheating, plagiarizing, fabricating of information or citations, facilitating acts of academic dishonesty by others, having unauthorized possession of examinations, submitting work of another person or work previously used without informing the instructor, or tampering with the academic work of other students.
Collaborative learning is encouraged in this course. You may discuss the strategies to solve a particular problem or analyze the problem collectively. However, analysis or solution or critical comments on the problems should be in your own words.
If copies of the same homework are submitted by multiple students, all those students will be assigned a ZERO grade.

In addition, this course adopts the academic integrity policy of the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences http://www.ems.psu.edu/admin/integ.html

Attendance

It is the policy of the University that class attendance by students is encouraged and that all instructors organize and conduct their courses with this policy in mind. A student should attend every class for which the student is scheduled and should be held responsible for all work covered in the courses taken. However, absences due to legitimate university activities to a reasonable extent are allowed.

Additional Information
Any email correspondence should be though ANGEL email or PSU email for authenticity purposes. Instructor teaches other courses and is involved in other university activities. Emails will be looked at every few hours but replies will be given only once a day unless it is an emergency. Usually one week will be given to the students to submit any reports etc. It would take some time to grade these and therefore, it is reasonable to expect the grades back in about a week after the submission.
